"I come from an academic family, and we like to think things through--then think about whether the process of thinking them through was as thorough as it could be, then write a book about it. (A book that takes twenty years.)"

Sounds like Mr Howe would do well with us in the cherry orchard...
Yeah, and then start thinking about the thinking, and why we waste so much time and mental energy thinking about the thinking, and then in the background the first original thinking is still there swirling around, only while you were thinking about the second thinking a whole bunch more joined in and so now there's like several hundred swirling around and they're multiplying and now all you want is just to find the Off switch in your head, then anxiety when you realize there just ain't one, then you've got yourself a brain whizzer, folks.
And he didn't tell the rest of it--the part where there is a constant soundtrack playing behind all the thinking. A bad day when the thoughts get zooming and the soundtrack is Felice Navidad. On the other hand, now that I THINK about it, it is a good day when something hilarious zips by right when you were stuck on Bach.
I loathe felice navidad
I'm not even going to tell you the name of the soundtrack currently underlying my Brain Whizzers, because then it would turn into your soundtrack, too, and it's not good.
